It's normal to get thrown off routine
Life is unpredictable, especially as a parent, a caregiver, when you have chronic illness yourself, or in times of turmoil.
Think of coming back to your routine as a practice. You will fall off. It's not if but when. Falling off does not mean you are a failure. It just means you have a complicated life in a messy world.
Come back to your routine in a way that allows for your humanity.
This is compassionate, yes - but, also, strategic. When you stew in guilt for not keeping up with your schedule, you end up further off track. It’s not only cruel to yourself, it’s unproductive.
